Community Love & Support

Does anyone know what day it is? I have seen so many posts on social media about not being able to keep up with what day it is! While everything may seem like a blur with all of the extra time on your hands, it has been so encouraging to see how it has brought our community together. It has shown the heart of so many – neighbors, teachers, local eateries, our first responders and so many healthcare workers. It does the heart good to see these acts of kindness!

Here is a list of some things that I have seen in the last week from around our community that has shown such love and care:

Several schools put together drive-thru parades in the heat of the day for 3+ hours so that they could keep in touch with their students. Just so that they might have a sense of normalcy during this time. Here is a photo of one of CISD’s schools featured in The Courier. Can I just say… Kaufman has some amazing teachers and Mrs. Shaw has one of the biggest and brightest hearts I’ve ever encountered. “We can’t give hugs but we thought this was the next best thing,” ~ Mrs. Shaw.

Quickly Following – Neighborhoods started putting together similar social distancing drive-thru parades in jeeps, motorcycles and so forth with the permission of local authorities. All with the hope to uplift spirits.

I recently saw this being shared on community pages and it’s a GREAT idea! If you have elderly neighbors that can’t get out and shop or just need help in general, give them 3 colored sheets of paper that they can place on their window to communicate their needs from a safe distance.

Green – I’m okay.

Yellow – Need help with an errand.

Red – Emergency.

So many volunteering to help sew masks for our healthcare workers in need, as well as family and friends. @raniana.crafts
